Information we collect

We may collect information you provide, including your name, email address, support messages, order details, billing and shipping addresses, and a phone number if supplied at checkout. For email list signups, we record your email address, the updates you agreed to receive, and when you signed up.

Checkout is provided by Shopify. Shopify and the payment providers used for your selected payment method collect and process payment and transaction information to complete your purchase and help prevent fraud. We receive information needed to manage your order, but do not receive or store your full payment-card number. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy for information about Shopify’s processing of personal information.

We may also collect technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, referring pages, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, and security or server-log data. We use cookies and similar technologies needed to operate and secure the website. Shopify checkout and optional services such as Shop Pay may use cookies and similar technologies for checkout, authentication, fraud prevention, and other purposes described in Shopify’s privacy policy. Available cookie and privacy choices are presented by those services. If we add non-essential analytics or advertising technologies to shlepon.com, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law.

How we use information

We use personal information to send the email updates you request about the next run, including when it is ready to ship; process purchases through Shopify and fulfill orders; provide tracking, returns, and support; prevent fraud and security incidents; operate and improve the website; maintain business, tax, and transaction records; comply with law; and enforce our agreements.

Reserving a spot on the email list does not subscribe you to general marketing emails or hold a bag. You can stop these updates at any time by emailing us at hello@shlepon.com.

Placing an order does not itself subscribe you to general marketing messages. Any marketing choices offered at checkout are separate from purchase and service communications. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages.

How we share information

We may share information with service providers that help us operate: Shopify, which stores email list signups and supports orders, payments, and fraud prevention; payment providers used at checkout; Google, to the extent it continues to store previously submitted application records as described below; Cloudflare and our website-hosting providers; shipping carriers and fulfillment providers; and professional advisers or vendors providing business, accounting, legal, security, or customer-support services.

These providers receive information for the services they perform and handle it under their own terms and legal obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law; to protect rights, safety, and security; or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of business assets.

We do not sell personal information for money. Shopify may also process information for its own purposes when you use its consumer services, including personalization and advertising as described in its privacy policy. You can review or exercise choices concerning Shopify’s use of information through Shopify’s privacy portal, and contact us about processing for which we are responsible.

Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, accounting, security, and dispute-resolution needs. Unless a longer period is required, we retain purchase and tax records for 7 years; customer-support correspondence for 3 years after the matter is closed; and fraud-prevention and security records for up to 3 years.

Previously submitted applications

We no longer accept applications, and no application or invitation is required to purchase. If we still hold an earlier application, it may include your name, email address, story, and optional permission to contact you about a possible feature. Those records may remain stored with Google. We continue to honor the privacy and consent commitments made when the information was collected; this change does not authorize new uses or publication of your story.

Unless a longer period is legally required, unsuccessful application materials remain subject to the previously stated 12-month retention period; this update does not restart that period. You may ask us to delete an application story sooner, subject to legal exceptions. Submitting an application did not subscribe you to general marketing emails, and optional feature permission did not itself authorize publication. We will obtain your additional approval before publishing your story in an identifiable form.

Your choices and privacy rights

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including receiving a portable copy, objecting to or restricting certain processing, withdrawing consent, or appealing a privacy decision. We may need to verify your identity, and legal exceptions may apply. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Security, children, and international visitors

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

We operate from the United States. If you visit from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy by posting a revised version here and changing its effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
